Semen Analysis

A semen analysis is crucial to the diagnostic work up of an infertile couple. Semen can be analyzed by the WHO or the more stricter Kruger criteria. Usually, three days abstinence is required before we can perform semen analysis.

Hormone Tests

Hormonal profile includes day 2 or 3 measurement of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Estradiol. This gives an indication of the ovarian reserve of the lady.

We also measure estradiol and progesterone to monitor a gonadotrophin stimulated cycle. Thyroid profile (T3, T4 and Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) and Prolactin, amongst others, are important hormones that aid us in fertility treatment.
